Staten Island:

In 2018, I moved to Staten Island. The ETG Stores were losing money in the first quarter of that year and asked for my expertise. They researched me using Google and thought I could help.

We mutually agreed on a compensation package and I got to work.

I delved into some deep research on Staten Island regarding the St. George area and on the art of thrift shopping. Then I conducted a campaign to move ETG Stores up and out of the financial slump.

This research equipped us with intelligent answers and some initial reasons why the stores were losing money. Then we tested some campaign ideas and moved ahead. The 36 page research report allowed us to more fully understand the problem and then responded accordingly.

I ran their Instagram account (averaging 6 hours per day) and generated just over $90,000. for the Every Thing Goes stores in 3 months.

The rest is history. 🍇

CASE STUDY

In 2019, I attended the SIEDC conference at the Hilton Hotel. I was excited to meet people and entered a business card in a raffle at the Lions Pride Leadership table.

My little, unassuming business card was selected from the fishbowl a week later. I won a prize valued at $1,200. Yay!

I got an email from Ann-Marie, the admin expert, who works for Chad and Danielle Reyes, and was called into their office to retrieve the prize.

In their conference room, at 1000 South Avenue, I was greeted by Danielle Reyes. She asked me to wait in the conference room and soon emerged with the prize. There were several leadership books by John C. Maxwell, a CD box set, a certificate, etc...

We chit-chatted and Danielle asked me where I came from (Brooklyn) and what my plans were for Staten Island.

I have to say: that one-liner raised her eyebrows.

She asked: “What did you say?
I repeated the line.

Wait here. You have to meet my husband.

Chad walked in like the gentleman he is, curious and inquiring, a few moments later. We spoke and he was intrigued. I proposed a number of valid points about applying neuroscience to market companies.

He left and came back a minute later and placed a flyer for the upcoming SICC Conference on the table we were seated at and asked:

How would you improve this?

I read it and shared some of what I would change, along with the supporting data I gathered from neuroscience, and more precisely: Why I would use a very different approach.

He didn’t want the 3 hour long explanation, as most smart business owners would agree. He wanted to see clear results.

I rewrote the copy in a day or two, presented them with the new copy, and invited them to test it and try it. They did.

Armed with the new ‘neurochemical’ copywriting, Danielle called me an hour after the email was sent out through the SICC list and said: “We have nine people signed up already!

I said: “Cool.

I wasn’t. This is what I do for a living.

I said: “Do you want to know what’s even stranger?

She asked: “What?

I said: “I’ll bet 6 of those 9 people are women.

She said: “No way! How could you know that?” She checked the registrants and found that there were 6 women and 3 men registered.

When you asked me to make edits, I remember you mentioning that there weren’t enough women showing up to these leadership events. So I wrote something that was 66% irresistible to women.

RESULTS

Lions Pride normally had 8-10 people register and attend their seminars at the SICC Conferences. Year over year, their attendance had a consistent track record. However, this time, in 2019, 50+ people arrived, and it was a standing-room-only event. This was our first little taste of success.

I then worked for Chad and Danielle for the next 2.5 years. It was my pleasure and I learned a lot about business strategy and leadership.

Late in 2021, I decided to relaunch an agency to make more money and help more business owners in Staten Island. Today we call it a Profile Agency.
